Text Editor

The SiteReptile text editor is shown below. You can load a web page into the editor by clicking on its name in the Menu on the left hand side of the Admin Panel.

Because many of our users are first timers, I'm going to begin by showing you how to perform some very basic operations like bolding text or changing the color of text.

Both of these operations begin by highlighting the text that you want to change.

Highlighting Text

Highlight textWhen held inside of the editor window, the mouse cursor looks like a large capital letter I

To highlight text ( In this case the word About ) , place the cursor at the beginning of the word, hold down the left mouse button and slide the cursor across the word.

Release the mouse button when the text that you want to change is highlighted.

Bold textIf you wanted to Bold the text you would click the B on the top of the editor toolbar.

Other options would be italic, Underline and Strike Through.

If you wanted to change the color of the text you would click this icon .

You could even turn the word into a hyperlink to link it to another page by clicking this icon . Here's a Flash Tutorial on How to create a hyperlink

Formatting Blocks of Text

To format paragraphs: change font family, font-size, highlight the block of text and use the drop down boxes shown here .

Mixing Headings and Paragraphs

Note: There are serious bugs in the editor when it comes to mixing Heading tags and paragraphs on the same page. I'll research these and see if I can find some solutions.

If you experience problems format the entire page as a paragraph and use larger text and bolding to simulate paragraph headings.

Changing Font Family

I used Verdana as my font family.

If you prefer Times Roman or Arial or another font use the second formatting box.

Highlight the text and make your choice.

Changing Font Size

To change the size of text, highlight the text you want to resize and use the third formatting box.

Text Alignment

The icons shown here are used for text alignment. The options are left align, center, right align and justify.

You can use these options for setting the horizontal position of text objects on a web page. Experiment.

You can request a tutorial for any specific function using the form on our FAQ page.
